Snow Barriers

SNOW AVALANCHE BARRIERS TO
STABILISE THE LAYER OF SNOW AT THE HEADS
OF DANGEROUSLY STEEP SLOPES
AND TO PREVENT AN AVALANCHE STARTING

An avalance happens when a mass of snow suddenly begins to move, sliding downward due to breakage of their conditions of balance.
The movement may be due to natural causes (wind, for example) or accident (due to skiers, for example) and, once it begins, it is impossible to halt. When moving across the side of the slope, the avalange may drag other masses of snow and increase its volume to spectacular levels and reach speeds of up to 300 km/h.
